Klaxon was flagged by Elaine Bird in the North West Norfolk magazine TOWN AND AROUND in its August 2023 edition and then started selling in a series of local shops that month as the word spread:
The first shop to carry Klaxon was BY THE BOOK on the High Street in ‘Sunny Hunny’ (Hunstanton) – ‘a bookshop filled with carefully curated preloved and new books’. Just over 1 year old, ‘by the book’ is the only dedicated bookshop in the NW Norfolk zone between Holkham, Burnham Market and Heacham.
Book lover and expert, co-founder, Adrian Eden read Klaxon and was enthusiastic and generous with his support from the very start. His imaginative display for Klaxon kick-started a series of imaginative ‘point of sale’ innovations that the Klaxon team have used in other shops.

Next up was avid book reader and reviewer Vicky Davies who runs PAPER MOON – a newsagent and bookshop in the heart of Burnham Market, beside 'The Green'.

Swift on these heels came Leah & Nathan at THE GENERAL STORE, RINGSTEAD - a village store dating back to the 1800’s … a truly unique shopping experience full of character with room after room to explore …. fantastic local Norfolk products and produce, local meat and the Norfolk Ale Shop alongside a huge selection of cards, gifts, Homeware and Hidden Treasures.’

This collection of iconic local stores selling Klaxon was swiftly augmented by OLD HUNSTANTON BARNS – ‘one of the largest centres of its type in East Anglia. It has a working pottery studio, a craft demonstration room and a large antiques area. It sells a huge selection of handmade pottery, craft, jewellery and gift items as well as crystals, fossils, books, cards, gifts. There is also a gallery containing around 200 original paintings.’
Also in Hunstanton, WITLEY SHOPS - ‘Newsagent & stationers, books about Hunstanton and Norfolk’ – started selling Klaxon towards the end of the month.
Last but not least, for 1 glorious week at the end of August, the #1-selling Klaxon retail outlet worldwide was the pop-up stall of JENNY GURNEY at the car park in Burnham Overy Staithe! This stall was designed to sell Jenny’s range of eco flip flops and Klaxon proved to be a hit with those customers looking for a great book to read on the beach.
Given the role of the windmill at Burnham Overy Staithe in Klaxon, this was an emotionally satisfying result. You would also have experienced a certain physical satisfaction if you had been lucky enough to enjoy barista coffee and cakes at THE NORFOLK COFFEE PEDLAR (great photos at: https://www.instagram.com/norfolkcoffeepedlar/) beside Jenny's stall.
Sales of Klaxon in NW Norfolk have been excellent and, indeed, 2 of the above shops sold out last week and had to be sent urgent deliveries direct from the publisher (Amazon).
